Coming up with an idea, making a prototype then charging forward with trying to make it a product can be a challenge. The same is true for changes in how our community could utilize these new programs or products. Finding the resources in your community to bring it to market or communicate the new program to make an impact in the community can be hard.
From another perspective there are those with the resources to help with the manufacturing, business models, funding, marketing and in some cases a city or community wanting to help pull everyone together to increase economic development or fill a need.
On Friday we will host a Power Up! Houston Kickoff Event to let makers share and discuss the potential that they see in our Houston area community for making an impact on the Houston area economy. Throughout Saturday and Sunday we will host Networking Roundtables as opportunities for different parties to come together to discuss different issues, share insights and see if we can #PowerUpHouston with more innovation and making!
The topics that have been identified are:
|Saturday, November 12th|
|10:00AM – 12:00PM||How can makers in our community impact a younger generation? How can we enable apprenticeships? How can we enable diversity in making?|
|1:00PM – 3:00PM||How can we enable local sourcing (eg Food, Reuse, Water, Materials, Equipment)?|
|Sunday, November 13th|
|10:00AM – 12:00PM||How can we enable entrepreneurs? Inventors?|
|1:00PM – 3:00PM||What are our manufacturing challenges for ideas?|
Come join us and be a part of the discussion to help identify options to Power Up our community in the Houston area!
These sessions will be held in Booth 1201B in the Maker Exhibit Hall in the George R. Brown Convention Center. These sessions will be free and open to the public, but we invite you to purchase tickets to support this event and visit more with all the makers and exhibitors in the Maker Exhibit Hall.
